We Have a Teaser for “Women’s Hell”

The new Polish HBO Original series “Women’s Hell”, directed by Anna Maliszewska, will debut on Friday, 6 March, on the HBO Max platform. New episodes of the six-part production will be released weekly on the service, leading up to the finale on 10 April.

The 1930s. Warsaw — the pulsating heart of the country, a city of contrasts and inequalities. It is a world in which women must fight for their own voice, their right to choose, and their dignity.

At the center of this turbulent era stands Helena Wróblewska (Agata Turkot), editor of the matrimonial magazine “Fortuna Amandi”. Her life changes irreversibly when she learns about the death of a young revue dancer who died following an illegal abortion procedure. The only thing she leaves behind in the editorial office is a mysterious letter.

With each new rumor about the tragic fates of other women, Helena begins to discover that the newspaper she runs together with her husband Maksymilian (Mateusz Damięcki) may be connected to these events.

At a certain point, Emil Heckmann (Hubert Miłkowski) enters her life — the brother of the deceased dancer, who is fighting for justice for his sister. Together with Helena, he steps into a world where forbidden desires and hypocrisy intertwine with violence, and where every decision may cost a life.

Production is overseen by Ewa Puszczyńska, the producer of internationally award-winning films, including the Academy Award-winning “Ida” and “The Zone of Interest”. The series is directed by Anna Maliszewska (“Dad”), with cinematography by Wojciech Zieliński. The screenplay was written by Magdalena Franczuk and Ewa Popiołek. The TVN WBD producer is Adrianna Przetacka. The production managers are Małgorzata Bereźnicka and Tomasz Parnowski (TVN WBD). Production design was created by Jagna Janicka, and costumes were designed by Małgorzata Fudala. Makeup is by Agnieszka Józefina Sasim, and editing by Maciej Pawliński. The casting director is Magdalena Szwarcbart.

The premiere of “Women’s Hell” on HBO Max is set for 6 March.
